Razzak distributes blankets among the cold-hit people
 
DHAKA, Dec 23 (BSS)-Minister for Food and Disaster Management Dr.Abdur Razzak distributed about 6,000 high quality blankets among the cold-hit distressed people in Lalbagh, Kanthal Bagan and Mohammedpur areas in the capital yesterday.

While distributing heavy wrappers the minister said the government stands by the poor people hit by severe cold with high quality blanket despite resource constraints.

The food minister said rice and atta have been selling for the benefit of poor people across the country at the rate of Taka 24 and Taka 20 per kilogram under Open Market Sale(OMS) programme. No where in the world rice and atta are being sold at such cheap prices, he said.

Meanwhile, government has allocated Taka 4 crore for purchasing more warm clothes for distribution among the cold- hit people. The allocations have been dispatched in favour of the Upazila Nirbahi Officers for necessary purchases.

State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Dr.Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin MP, Barrister Fazle Noor Tapash MP, Director General of Department of Relief and Rehabilitation Mohammad Zahirul Hoque and local Awami League leaders were present during Blanket distribution.
