DHAKA, Dec 23 (BSS)- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today has expressed her profound shock at the death of Advisory Council member of Bangladesh Awami League, popular parliamentarian, an organizer of the War of Liberation and former minister Abdur Razzaq, MP.
Abdur Razzaq, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for the Water Resources Ministry and a former presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League was suffering from kidney and liver disease, died in a hospital in London today.
In a message of condolence, the Prime Minister recalled the contribution of Abdur Razzaq in the country's politics, and said the nation has lost a dedicated politician and follower of Bangabandhu in his death.
The Prime Minister said, Abdur Razzaq, in his student life has played a remarkable role in the movement for establishing the rights of self-determination and independence under the leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
With his dynamic organizing capacity, Abdur Razzaq has played a praiseworthy role in the movement for establishing rights of 'vote and bhat' and democracy, Sheikh Hasina said.
The Prime Minister said Abdur Razzaq, one of four sector commanders of Mujib Bahini during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971 was a leading organizer of the War of Liberation and trainer of Mujib Bahini.
Sheikh Hasina paid her rich tributes to the memory of Abdur Razzaq and prayed for salvation of the departed soul. She conveyed profound sympathy to the members of the bereaved family.
