DHAKA, March 20 (BSS)- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina goes to Barisal tomorrow on a daylong visit where she will open and lay foundation stones of a number of establishments, including modernized port, marine academy and water treatment plant.
It is her second visit to Barisal after the Awami League-led Grand Alliance government assumed office in 2009 through a landslide victory in the 2008 general elections. Earlier, the Prime Minister visited Barisal in February 2010 to open Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat bridge.
Official sources said the Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Stadium in Barisal city by a helicopter at 10.10 am.
On reaching the divisional city, Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the 'Muktijoddha Park' on the bank of the Kirtonkhola River.
Later, she would open newly-constructed two-storey terminal of the Barisal Port and lay the foundation stones of the marine academy and the water treatment plant at the Launch Ghat area.
The Prime Minister will hold a meeting with local Awami League leaders and exchange views with the district-level officials on the overall development of the district at local Circuit House.
Sheikh Hasina will lay the foundation stone of 500-seat Bangabandhu Auditorium in the afternoon. She will later address a
public meeting at Bangabandhu Udyan.
