DHAKA, Mar 27 (BSS) - Barisal Bhibag Sangbadik Samity, Dhaka (Barisal Division Journalists' Association) today organised a "Milad and Doa Mahfil" at the Jatiya Press Club seeking divine blessings for the departed soul of Photojournalist Shawkat Jamil.

Shawkat Jamil, a senior photojournalist of the Daily Star and member of the organisation died of heart attack at Birdem Hospital in the city on March 13. He was 55.

Members of the organisation, senior journalists of Barisal division and colleagues of late Jamil attended the milad mahfil and prayed for eternal peace of his departed soul. A special munajat was offered on the occasion.

Earlier, colleagues and leaders of the organisation recalled the memories of late Jamil and his contribution in the profession with deep gratitude.

Former Chief Editor and Managing Director of National News Agency BSS Amanullah, the New Nation Editor Mostafa Kamal Majumder, JPC President Kamal Uddin Sabuj, journalist leader Altaf Mahmud, Senior journalist Abdul Rahman Khan and President of the organisation Abdur Rahman recalled the contribution of Jamil in Journalism profession.
