NARSINGDI, March 31 (BSS)- Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken up a massive plan to cultivate summer vegetables in all the six upazilas of the district during the current season.
According to the DAE, a total of 6,614 hectares of land would be brought under summer vegetables cultivation with a production target of 92,265 tonnes this year. Last year farmers of the district cultivated the vegetables on 6,400 hectares.
Farmers of the district have already started growing vegetable seedlings of different varieties such as pumkin, cucumber, kakral, korella, kaida, jinga, lady's finger, poishak and data shak.
They are working in the vegetable fields with great zeal and expecting a satisfactory yield of vegetable this season.
Deputy director of the DAE, Narsingdi said necessary steps have been taken to ensure supply of quality seeds, fertilizer and other agri-inputs to the growers at fair price to boost production.
