RANGPUR,Apr 9(BSS)-Discussants at an orientation meeting yesterday stressed for creating adequate awareness among the transport workers through disseminating proper knowledge for preventing spreading of HIV/AIDS.
They asked all stakeholders to educate the vulnerable group
people about these dreadful diseases to check spreading through
their participations in the campaign against HIV/AIDS and
sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
RDRS Bangladesh organised the orientation meeting at
Doshmile Truck Sramik Union Bhaban at Doshmile point on the
Rangpur-Panchagarh Highway under Kaharol upazila in Dinajpur
Health Programme Manager of the NGO Golam Azam Nur attended
and addressed the meeting as the chief guest with President of
Doshmile Truck Sramik Union Idris Ali in the chair.

multimedia projector and elaborately narrated about HIV/AIDS and
STDs and the ways for preventing further spreading of these
The speakers said the situation could worsen if the
vulnerable group people conduct sexual habits without proper
knowledge on safe sexes and blood transfusions increasing
possibility of spreading the HIV/AIDS and STDs.
They suggested for conducting awareness building campaign
among the vulnerable groups of people including transport and sex
workers in both urban and rural areas to work against these
silent killer diseases.
