DHAKA, April 15 (BSS) - Ruling Awami League has chalked out a two-day programmes to mark the historic Mujibnagar Day on Tuesday.
Mujibnagar Day is being observed commemorating the formation
of provisional government of independent Bangladesh at
Boidyanathtola in Meherpur of the then Kushtia district on April
Earlier on April 10, 1971, Mujibnagar government was formed
with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as its President, Syed
Nazrul Islam as Acting President, Tajuddin Ahmed as the Prime
Minister, Captain M Mansur Ali as Finance Minister, HM
Quamruzzaman as Home Minister, and Khandaker Moshtaque Ahmed as
As part of the programmes, the national and party flags will
be hoisted at Bangabandhu Bhaban and all other party offices
across the country at 6 am on April 17, according to AL sources.
Party leaders and activists will place wreathes at the
portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman at Bangabandhu Bhaban at 7 am and wreaths will be placed
at Banani graveyard of four national leaders at 7.30 am.
The programmes at Mujibnagar includes hoisting of national
flag at 6.30 am, placing wreathes at Mujibnagar memorial at 11 am
and discussion meeting followed by a cultural meeting at Sheikh
Hasina Manch at 11.30 am.
