DHAKA, April 17 (BSS) - Bangladeshi High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan observed the historic Mujibnagar Day in a befitting manner today, said a press release.
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid hoisted the national flag of Bangladesh at the high commissioner's office in the presence of Bangladeshi High Commissioner Shohrab Hossain, other employees and expatriate Bangladeshis.
They paid rich tributes to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.
Bangladeshi High Commissioner Shohrab Hossain, Deputy High Commissioner Mahfuzur Rahman and chief executive of BRAC in Pakistan, M Faridur Rahman also recalled the memory of the day when Bangladesh's first government in exile was formed in 1971.
A six-member team led by the minister is attending the two- day long meeting of the commission of science and technology for sustainable development in the south (COMSATS) in Islamabad.
During the plenary session Nahid updated the audience about the changes in Bangladesh education policy and incorporation of digital technology in its expansion.
