DHAKA, April 17 (BSS)- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said Bangladesh in a very short time would open its diplomatic mission in Brazil.
Necessary preparations are nearing completion to open Bangladesh Embassy in Brazil, she said when outgoing Brazilian Ambassador to Bangladesh Ricardo Luiz Viana De Carvalho called on her at her office here.
The Prime Minister appreciated the significant role of Ambassador Carvalho played for over more than two years in further enhancing the bilateral relations between the two countries, PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad said while briefing reporters after the call on.
"Bangladesh is reaching out to its friends in Latin American countries and despite geographical distance and linguistic un- commonality, there is much potential for mutually beneficial economic and technical cooperation between Bangladesh and Brazil," she said.
Sheikh Hasina mentioned the government's stride to strengthen the country's democratic system as well as parliamentary democracy and informed the envoy of various development programmes including in the areas of health, education, food security and social safety.
The Ambassador highly praised the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in various regional and international Forums, particularly in the global fight against impacts of climate change.
"You are a hero of the global movement against climate change," the envoy commented.
Ambassador-at-Large M Ziauddin, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Sheikh Wahid Uz Zaman and PMO Secretary Molla Waheeduzzaman were present.
