COX'S BAZAR, June 13 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today foiled two separate attempts of Rohingas to enter into Bangladesh territory and pushed back them to their country.
Talking to BSS, operation officer of 42 BGB Major H Kamrul Hasan said they have sent 26 Ronhingas back to their country as they tried to intrude Bangladesh from Shahpari Island Estuary crossing the Naf River by a small boat.
In the afternoon, he said, another trawler carrying 44 intruders caught red handed at Golarchhar at Shahpari Island as their trawler caught in the chharland and pushed them back to their country in the evening.
Major Kamrul said normalcy is coming back in Arakan but BGB and coastguards strengthening their petrol in southwestern region boarding Myanmar.
Teknaf Land Port general manger Abdul Mohaimen said activities of the land port are completely closed from June 8 due to the clash between two ethnic groups in Myanmar.
Rakhine is a state, which is also home to a large number of Muslims including the Rohingya, whom the UN described as "persecuted minorities" while thousands of them took refuge neighbouring Bangladesh over the years.
