NEW DELHI, March 15 (BSS)-The visiting Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff General Mohammed Abdul Mubeen began his official engagements here today by placing a wreath at the Aamar Jawan Jyoti (AJJ) at the India Gate, in memory of the members of the soldiers who laid down their lives during country's independence.
From there, General Mubeen drove to the Army headquarters at the South Block.
Indian Chief of Army Staff General Deepak Kapoor received him
on his arrival. A smartly contingent of army presented him a
guard of honour and he inspected the guard.
The ceremony over, the visiting Bangladesh Army Chief met his
Indian counterpart at his office and discussed matters of mutual
They also discussed boosting military ties between the two
countries. General Mohammed Abdul Mubeen made a courtesy call on
the chief of Indian Naval staff Admiral Nirmal Verma and
discussed matters of bilateral interests.
The Army Chief also met the Vice Chief of Air Staff, Air
Marshal P.K. Barbora at the Air Force headquarters. General
Mubeen, who is the chief of Bangladesh Olympic Association, also
visited the office of the Indian Olympic Association.
He also attended a luncheon hosted in his honour by the Vice
Chairman of the Association Mr. Randeer Singh.
The Chief of Army Staff is due to meet the National Security
Adviser Shiv Shankar Menon in the evening.
The Indian Chief of Army Staff General Deepak Kapoor will
host a dinner in honour of General Abdul Mubeen and his
delegation at the Battle Honour Officers' Mess in the Capital
