DHAKA, April 4 (BSS)- The government has decided to distribute high protein biscuits among the students of 535 non- governmental primary schools of 10 upazilas of the country starting soon.
The decision was taken at a meeting of 'EC Aided School Feeding Programme Project Implementation Committee' held here yesterday.
Under the programme, each school going children will get 75 grams biscuits in every 'School Day,' which will run upto December, 2014 at a cost of Taka 75.40 crore. . Bangladesh Government will bear the entire money.
The 10 upazilas where schools are situated in Hatibandha of Lalmonirhat, Bera of Pabna, Jakirgacha of Jessore, Dewanganj of Jamalpur,Kalmakanda of Netrakona, Dharmapasha of Sunamganj,Lakhai of Habiganj,Dashmina of Pautakhali,Ramgoti Of Lakhipur and Maheshkhali of Cox'sbazar districts.
The European Commission introduced the similar programmes on August, 2011 in 617 Government Primary Schools (GPS) where two lakh students have been involving under the project at a cost of Taka 127.70 crore.
The cost of the GPS students is borne by the EC.
Now, as many as 328,500 students of government and non- governmental primary schools of the country have been brought under the School Feeding Programme who will get 75 grams high protein biscuits every School Day upto 2014.
