DHAKA, Nov 29 (BSS) - A total of 45 exporters would be given the National Export Trophy for 2009-10 fiscal year tomorrow in recognition of their contribution to the country's export trade.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to hand over the trophies and certificates to the recipients at 10.30 am on November 30 (Wednesday) at Osmani Memorial Auditorium here, said a commerce ministry release.
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and Ministry of Commerce give the award to exporters every year in three categories -- gold, silver and bronze.
Of the 45 trophies, gold medals would be given to 16 business establishments, silver to 18 and bronze to 11 business houses.
Jabber and Jobayer Fabrics Ltd would receive the trophy as highest exporter.
According to the National Trophy Policy, the award is being given in 25 categories of products (gold, solver and bronze in each product).
The products include Readymade Garment (RMG), all kinds of cotton, textiles, fabrics, home and specialized textiles, frozen foods, raw jute, leather and leather goods, footwear, agriculture goods, agro processing goods, handicrafts, plastic goods, ceramic products, light engineering, electric and electric goods, medicines, computer software and IT.
Various criteria have been taken into account while selecting the awardees. Those include export earnings, quantitative export growth, incorporation of new products in export, access to new market, financial transition and commercial transparency, according to the ministry.
As many as 39 businessmen got the award in 2008-09 fiscal.
The country exports more than 168 kinds of products to 187 countries in the world, according to EPB.
