Canadian delegates visit 20th CITF in Chittagong
 
CHITTAGONG, Mar 7 (BSS) - A high-profile business delegation from Canada today said performance of Chittagong is incredible in respect of import and export activities of Bangladesh.

A total of 92 percent export and import of Bangladesh is operated through Chittagong Port which denotes the capabilities of this port as well as this region", Canadian business leaders said this while visiting the 20th Chittagong International Trade Fair(CITF)-2012 at the premises of Polo Ground.

The trade fair organized by Chittagong Chamber of Commerce &
Industry (CCCI).

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Saskatchewan Chamber of
Commerce, Canada Steve Mclellan led the business delegation
including Senior Director of Saskatchewan Trade & Export
Partnership Jennifer Evancio, Trade Commissioner, High Commission
of Canada Mortoza R Tarafder and Consultant, International Market
Promotion, Saskatchewan Pulse Growers Raghavan Sampathkumar.

Senior Vice-President of CCCI Mahbubul Alam welcomed the
delegation and commented that Bangladesh imports a huge amount of
quality wheat from Canada and 80% of them are consumed only in
Chittagong.

He also emphasized on exchanging technology in agricultural
sector between the two countries.

Co-Chairman of CITF and Chamber Director Morshed Arif
Chowdhury, Mahfuzul Haque Shah, Jahirul Islam Chowdhury (Alamgir)
and Mohammad Ahid Siraj Chowdhury were, among others, present
during the visit.

The delegation visited different pavilions and stalls in the fair
and expressed their satisfaction over the quality of the local
products.

Earlier, the delegation organized a seminar on Canadian Agricultural Products at a city hotel this morning.

The delegation also visited country's biggest wholesale
market Khatungonj and talked to different importers.
