Tk 1.30 cr riverbank protection work begins in Ulipur
 
RANGPUR, Apr 17 (BSS)- Construction work of the 170-metre temporary riverbank protection embankment began at Taka 1.30 crore alongside the river Brahmaputra in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram yesterday, officials said today.

Ulipur UNO Shahinur Alam inaugurated the work at a simple ceremony arranged at the site as the chief guest with Sub- divisional Engineer of Water Development Board (WDB), Kurigram Sabibur Rahman in the chair.

The WDB has been implementing the project to save riverside Anantapur and Gaburzan villages under Hatia union there from erosion of the mighty Brahmaputra during the next rainy season.

Assistant Engineer of WDB from its Dhaka Head Office Khalid Saifullah Sarker, Hatia union parishad chairman BM Abul Hossain, local union parishad members and elite were present.
