RANGPUR, March 9 (BSS) - Bangladesh National Women Lawyers' Association (BNWLA) observed the International Women's Day- 2012 through various programmes on Thursday in the city.
The programmes included colourful rally participated by hundreds of lawyers, women, girls, students and women activists with banners, posters, festoons and discussion.
With Advocate Alef Uddin in the chair, Vice-chairman of Bangladesh Shop Owners' Association and former Rangpur Mayor Kazi Md Junnoon attended the discussion at Munshipara Office of BNWLA as the chief guest.
Lawyer of Bangladesh Supreme Court Advocate Munir Chowdhury, Councilor of Rangpur pourasabha Ferdousi Begum and representative of Association of Development Agencies in Bangladesh Nishat Ara Begum addressed as special guests.
Rangpur divisional representative of BNWLA Adv Kazi Ummul Wara Fatima, Adv Mahnur Chowdhury Mahin, Adv Nargis Morsheda, Adv Pratima Chakroborty, Adv Rabiul Islam, Adv Mossarraf Hossain and Adv Roksana Begum, addressed, among others.
The speakers stressed for rooting out all disparities to ensure gender equity and mass emancipations of womenfolk in developments, economy, governance, policy-making matters and every sector for building a prosperous nation.
