CHITTAGONG, April 2 (BSS) - Police today arrested four activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) from Chittagong University (CU) campus for their involvements in sabotage activities.
The arrested were identified as Anwar Hossain of Finance and Banking Department, Ahmed Razib of Physics Department, Zulfikar Ali of Accounting Department and Mozammel Hoque of Management Department.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hathazari thana Abul Kashem said police after conducting drives at different spots on the campus arrested them on charges of creating disorder and disrupting congenial academic atmosphere on the campus.
"Police is conducting drives at different cottages (privately rented residence of students) and students' messes on the campus and necessary steps would be taken against the trouble makers", the OC added.
In the morning, the ICS activists kidnapped the university shuttle train driver and injured three police personnel as part
of their indefinite strike on the campus.
CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammad Anwarul Azim Arif told journalists that the university authority is finding it difficult to maintain a congenial atmosphere on the campus as ICS leaders and activists are committing misdeeds to manifest their strength on the campus.
