NATORE, Apr (BSS)- Harvesting of wheat began in the six upazilas of Natore while the farmers are expecting bumper production of the crop this season.
According to District Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources farmers cultivated wheat on over 23,600 hectares of land in different areas of the upazilas of the district this year.
Wheat were cultivated on 6,040 hectares of land in Lalpur upazila, which was highest among all the six upazilas. Other upazilas are - Sadar, Boraigram, Bagatipara, Gurudaspur and Singra.
Farmers are expecting bumper production of wheat this year for favourable weather condition and smooth supply of agriculture inputs.
The DAE official source said, farmers could produce 12.16 maund of wheat per bigha last year. "But this year production would be much higher", he said adding that some farmers produced 20 maund of wheat per bigha which is unprecedented. |
