RANGPUR, May 16 (BSS) - Participants at the concluding ceremony of a two-day training workshop today called upon all concerned including women community leaders and other stakeholders to root out all sorts of violence against women.
Souhardo II Programme of CARE Bangladesh organised the workshop with the assistances of USAID and GoB for increasing efficiency of Women Forum for Eradicating Violence against Women at Balapara union parishad in Kawnia upazila.
With Imam of Thana Jam-e-Mosque Moulana Babar Ali in the chair, female member of Balapara union parishad Rawshan Ara attended the concluding session of the training workshop as the chief guest.
Chairman of Tepamadhupur union parishad Alim Uddin, Balapara union member Amirul Islam Polash, Upazila Filed Assistants of CARE Bangladesh Munnujan Begum, Taz Nahar Begum and Mobarak Chowdhury and journalist Monirul Islam addressed.
Members of the local Women Forum for Eradicating Violence against Women, civil society members, professionals, public representatives, women community leaders, couples, religious leaders and NGO activists took part.
Narrating various types of repressions and violence against women, the speakers emphasised for building a gender disparity free and women-friendly society to achieve sustainable national developments through collective efforts of both men and women.
Terming violence, abuse and torture on women as a gross violation of human rights, they said the society has still being paying a lot and desired economic developments are being hampered for these prevailing social curses.
The participants expressed their firm commitments to play pioneering roles in creating mass public awareness among all in the society to prevent domestic violence once for all for building a prosperous nation with equal rights of the womenfolk.
