DHAKA, March 10 (BSS)-All rounder Shakib Al Hasan today said Asia Cup is a right platform for them to prove their worth, standard and ability and at the same time he admitted that it would be a very tough job for them.

"We did not play well against Pakistan in the recently held home series but this is a different tournament. We have a very good preparation in the last two month in domestic cricket, boys are prepared and if we play as per our potential we will do well in the tournament." Shakib said at a pre-match press conference at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today.

"Definitely our main target is to play good cricket in home which he have not done usually. Pakistan is in good from although their recent performance one day series against England was not good , Sri Lanka and India are tough opponents... condition will be very tough for us but it is a challenge for us to show our performance at this level through this tournament." he told

The left handed all rounder said the subcontinent wickets is always a big challenge for the bowlers especially for pacers and all three team have a very good bowling side which they have proved it already.

Replying to a question the dependable all rounder said: "To tell the truth we did not play good cricket against Pakistan since after 1999 World Cup. We came close to win once or twice but failed but now it is another opportunity for us prove the thing wrong in the Asia Cup tournament."

Pakistani bowling side is the strongest side compared to the remaining three teams and it is a very tough challenge for our batsmen, but it is still possible to score a reasonable total against Pakistan.

Shakib said playing in different format in the tournament immediately after the T20 is very challenging for them but at the same time they are ready to accept the challenge.

Bangladesh team had a strenuous practice in the morning at the match venue before their opening match against Pakistan starting from tomorrow.
