Beach Football Tournament begins in Cox's Bazar on April 6
DHAKA, April 2 (BSS) - A two day 2nd Beach Football Tournament will kick off on April 6 in Cox's Bazar, the world's longest natural sandy sea beach, under the auspices of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and private TV Channel I.

BFF President Kazi Salahuddin will inaugurate the tournament styled "Runner- Channel I Beach Football Tournament-2012" on April 6 at 9.30 am. Runner Group sponsors the sporting event.

According to the organisers, a total of six top ranking football teams will play in the tournament in three groups. "We Are For Football" (WAFF)", an organisation will provide all-out support to form the teams with the participation of former star footballers.

Speaking at a press conference at Channel I office, they said this football match is being organised to popularize beach football in the country. The world's largest sandy beach Cox's bazar would be projected across the globe through organising such sports event, they said adding that it would help attract more foreign tourists in the country.

The six teams that are going to play in the tournament are -
Abahani Masters, Mohemadan Masters, Brothers Masters, Muktijoddha Masters, Team BGMC Masters and Cox's bazar Beach Football Club (Chittagong Masters).

Giving details, organizers said the champion team of the tournament would get Taka 100,000 (one lakh) as prize money while
the runners-up team would get Taka 50,000.

Besides, each participating team will get Taka 10,000 while the best player of the final match will get Taka 5,000 and best player of the tournament will get Taka 10,000.

Channel I Director (News) Shaykh Siraj, BFF Vice-President Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir, WAFF President Architect Mobasher Hossain and Runner Group Vice-Chairman Mozammel Hossain, among others, were present at the press conference.
